Meet the Principal
Pastor Tonya D. Williams
Principal Tonya D. Green Williams is a native of Washington, D.C., and a graduate of Elizabeth Seton High School in Bladensburg, MD. Principal Williams completed her undergraduate studies at The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC where she graduated Magna cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education in 1995. Other honors include the Marian Award, the second-highest honor awarded to a senior female student, recognized for distinguished leadership, responsibility, and service, the Frank Kuntz Award, given to a graduating senior for service to the campus community and devotion to the Church, and the Thomas E. Shields Award for Outstanding Achievement in Elementary Education.
During her undergraduate studies, Principal Williams received her call into the ministry and was licensed to preach the gospel in December of 1993 at the Isle of Patmos Baptist Church in Washington, D.C.. She also served as a Sunday School teacher and President of the Youth Ministry.
After completing her studies at Catholic University, Principal Williams enrolled at Vanderbilt University School of Divinity in Nashville, TN, where she was named the Kelly Miller Smith Scholar, receiving a full-tuition scholarship. She completed her program of study in 1998, and received her Masters of Divinity degree in Religious Education and Pastoral Ministry. While studying at Vanderbilt, she served as an associate minister at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Nashville, TN, and was later ordained and appointed the Minister of Christian Education. In this role, she directed religious education for children, youth and adults.
Principal Williams worked as an elementary school educator in both private and public schools from 1998 until June 2007. In June of 2007 she received the Excellence in Education Award from Alexandria City Public Schools Board of Education. Principal Williams left the classroom in 2007 to serve as a full-time assistant pastor of Crossover Church in Hyattsville, MD. Despite her brief hiatus from the classroom, her love and commitment to education called her back, and she assumed the role of principal of Edified Christian Preparatory Academy in 2015 founded under the late apostle Glenwood Williams Jr.
Principal Williams also serves as an associate pastor of The Triumphant Baptist Church in Mt. Rainier, MD. Principal Williams is married to Minister Kevin Williams, and they have three sons, Kevin Elijah, Ethan Nathaniel (ECPA class of 2024), and Zachary Emmanuel, (ECPA Class of 2026).
